Today is the first day in our new hiding place. The Annex is small but will keep us safe. I've brought my diary with me, which I'm very glad about. It will be a source of comfort during these uncertain times.
The rooms are bare, but we've started to unpack our things. Father, Mother, and Margot are trying to arrange everything to make it feel more like home. The van Pels family will join us soon.
I hope I will be able to confide everything to you, as I have never been able to confide in anyone, and I hope you will be a great source of comfort and support.
We must be very quiet during the day when the workers are in the building below. It's strange to think that we cannot go outside or make much noise. But we are safe, and that's what matters most right now.
